Save old castle lachlan (SOCL) Fund
The Lachlan Trust of Canada is a registered charity dedicated to raising awareness of our Scottish & Celtic ancestors. A save old castle lachlan  (SOCL) Fund has been formed by the Lachlan Trust of Canada, a registered charity, and the not for profit Clan Lachlan Association of Canada . The major objectives of the Fund are:
  • to raise funds to help the preservation of  the remains of a 700 year old castle in the ancestral home of the Clan in Argyll, Scotland.
  • to help the preservation  of the heritage of the clan by producing and updating the existing clan and genealogy information in the Lachlan Library . This now requires a searchable Library Data Base..
  •  to create and expand an online Lachlan Library of E Books highlighting Scottish and Celtic history & culture. This would include classic books  formerly only available in  national libraries and the libraries of a few major universities. We welcome the history of other Highland clans.
  • to publish through Lachlan Editions  E Books of  personal & family memoirs ,family genealogy,  family history, stories, poetry, pioneer experiences in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and  USA, wartime experiences etc. We welcome in particular people of  Scots and Irish descent who have shared similar experiences.
  • to put selected  Clan Lachlan History, Family Histories  & Genealogy contents of the Lachlan Library on a DVD and file updated records  in the National Library of Scotland which gives a permanent record.

Lachlan Library Membership.

Lachlan Trust of Canada & the Clan Lachlan Association of Canada (CLA ) through the SOCL Club have formed a Lachlan Library  to preserve our heritage. Lachlan Library Membership from the SOCL fund is a "promotional gift" to donors at no cost for a qualifying donation to the Lachlan Trust.  An Online Lachlan Library Card  gives access to the  Library which contains a rapidly growing library of over 130 E Books on Scottish  Highland history & culture;over 120E Books with  the clan history, traditions  and genealogy information formerly on the CD; any Lachlan Edition E  books published.

Lachlan Library Card holders can have  Memoirs, Reminiscences, Family Stories & Histories published as Lachlan Editions E books and given a perma:nent home in the Library & Archives Canada and in the National Library of Scotland.

Lachlan Library Family History & Ancestry Data Base. For holders of  a Lachlan Library Card we are  in the process of adding over the next few months a powerful PHP/MySQL  Family History & Ancestry Database which has virtually unlimited capacity of handling names, trees, records, photos, videos,  histories, documents , graveyards etc. You can set up your own dedicated family tree and make it available for future generations.

CA21.0 Annual charitable donation  of $25.00( the same dollar cost  for US$, AU$, CA$, NZ$ )or £15.00  gives a "gift " of  Lachlan Library Membership which brings an annual membership of the worldwide Clan Society. For those with an ancestor  born in Scotland or Ireland named MacLachlan , Lachlan, McLaughlin, Laughlin, Claflin, Gilcrist or MacEwen, or any of the 400 variations in spelling,  you are eligible by blood to become a Clan Society member and support your ancestral clan. The Council of the Society has voted to become  more "inclusive" so that Society Membership without a known ancestor with one of the clan names could  be obtained by strong support of  our objectives of preserving  our Celtic and Highland heritage and supporting Lachlan Trust projects. An annual donation  of at least  $25.00 or  £15.00.  to the Lachlan Trust in Canada or Scotland would be one way to demonstrate such support. CLA offers also as a "gift" social membership of the Canadian Branch; other Branches of the Society have their individual policies and fees for membership.

For other options to donate, see: Lachlan Trust  Order Form.
